Greer Steel Holds Ribbon Cutting For New 22″ Finishing Mill
Greer Steel held a special ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the installation and start up of a new 22″ finishing mill. The new mill, which is part of an overall Greer capital improvements program, will provide customers with improved finish, higher quality and greater consistency.
Performing the ribbon cutting honors were Jane Greer Raese, 11 and Agnes Reeves Raese, 6, the daughters of Greer Steel President/CEO John Raese. The girls represent the sixth generation of the Reeves/Greer/Raese family’s involvement in the steel industry.
Following the ceremony, attendees and all Greer Steel employees were invited to a reception to celebrate the event.
The new mill was provided by I²S, the global leader in mill equipment. According to Bob Gwynne, Executive Vice President, “The 22″ mill will increase Greer’s temper capacity by 3,000 tons/month and will allow better utilization of the finish rolls and greater diversity of roll finish.” Noting that the new mill was part of the ongoing capital improvements program, Gwynne stated, “This effort is evidence of our continued commitment to keep Greer Steel at the forefront of the cold rolled strip industry.”
